The Natchez is a steamboat based in New Orleans undertaking harbor and dinner cruises on the Mississippi.
Designed by Alan L. Bates, Natchez was built in 1976 as a (steel) replica of an old sternwheeler. However, her steam engines originate from the towboat Clairton built in 1927. Visit the webpage of the New Orleans Steamboat Company for a description and history of Natchez along with some photos. Other pictures are found at www.steamboats.org complete with audio files of her calliope and more video clips.
